Wooden stairs, stone stairs, spiral stairs, open or closed stairs, indoor or even outdoor stairs, all serve the same purpose: to go up or down to another level. Its function is usually the same, but it doesn’t matter at all what it looks like and an essential consideration is that it should be safe. If your apartment has a gallery or an upper level, it is inevitable that you also have stairs leading up or down. I have come across in many places a staircase stype, called ‘floating staircase’ in technical language.
This is when the steps are free and you can see between them to the lower level without hindrance. These often don’t have stair railing on them either. Such staircases cause unpleasant minutes for anyone struggling with agoraphobia.
According to Feng Shui, such stairs represent uncertainty.
If there’s no railing on at least one side of the stairs, it’s like you would need to grow wings to get to the top level. There is a constant insecurity that you can slide down at any time. From a feng shui perspective, this means that in which life area the stairs are located, you have doubts, you can be indecisive, you can be influenced, you don’t have self-confidence, you may not trust others or you are too permissive. This means in the relationship that you don’t trust yourself, you doubt that you deserve a working relationship at all, you may have constantly doubts “I’m not good enough for him” Did I make the right choice? Can also be that you are afraid to commit yourself and start a family.
According to feng shui, it can be remedied if the stairs are made of the material, suitable for the area. If this is not possible anymore, we can play around with colors to make the life/ home area better, safer. In particular, the floating nature of the stairs must be eliminated, covered and handrails on both edges so that we can touch the rails while we climb on them. This increases our sense of security. The point is to be able to hold on to the stair railing and block the view to the lower level. The bottom also can be built in, giving you access to many useful areas. An example of a good staircase in the living room which is here the area of fame and reputation.
