First area: Love, Relationships
A scale, accurate floor plan, magnetic north direction measured at the entrance with exact degree is required to start. Feng shui does not consider the north-east-south direction according to the equator, but the magnetic one. This differs often from the equator. We can compare if we go out to see where the sun comes up or goes down, those are equator directions. Wires and electrical equipment placed in the wall can significantly change the magnetic directions, that is why we use a compass when we measure, not our phones.
As this is a sample analysis, I thought my own apartment would serve this purpose perfectly. Feng shui divides the apartment into nine living/house areas. We are starting with what we find when we enter.
The entrance and its surroundings is in my case the area of LOVE and RELATIONSHIP.
The door, although in a slightly secluded location, is easily accessible. However a forgotten 25-pound bag of putty and two boxes of tiles in front of the door give the impression that something is being renovated right now in the apartment. The door is white, clean, with a barely noticeable number on the top. The bell works. The numbering of the apartment could be more well-marked and noticeable so that the opportunities could find better those who live in it. It would also be beneficial to have a nameplate on the door. The door can be opened normally at 90 degrees, there is nothing in its way, but sometimes there are obstacles placed by the inhabitants in front of the door, in the form of shoes or even garbage bags.
If you empty each trash bin in the apartment but you don’t have time to take it down or you are lazy and bring it just to the door with the thought, if I am going to the store or go for a walk with the dog, or somewhere, I’ll take it with me, you’re not doing it right. You project "dirt" that has accumulated in all areas of your life, onto the area where you have the entrance. For me, the entrance and hallway are the area of the relationship, so I roll obstacles for myself and build blocks which hinder me in finding a normal and balanced relationship.
The hall is where you first enter the apartment, this is also the place of the first impression of the people who live here. The energy enters through the door to your apartment and goes on to the other rooms. Or just gets stuck at the entrance like in my case. There was no lamp in the hall when I moved in, just a bulb hanging from the ceiling. I got one from a friend and another one fitted it. Here I made the mistake by telling him to install it as he can. A five bulb, more than half-meter-long "chandelier" was placed across me by the electrician, andI was very happy at the time to "to have lighting in the hallway finally" but I didn't realize at that time, that as soon as I enter the apartment, the lamp would stop incoming energy and transmits it in two directions and significantly slowing it down. When I thought about it, I suddenly became aware that that’s why I’m so tired and powerless there, and this is the reason why I am not progressing with my work and life, when I’m home. I do and complete more things at my workplace in two days, than at home in a week. So, as soon as possible, I need to find an electrician who will readjust the luminaire and its length.
If we continue looking around after we enter, the kitchen cabinets catch our attention in front of us and on the right we find the shoe cabinet and clothes hanger.
The shoes are lined up nicely, there is a mirror above it, there is hardly any free space on the shelf, a bag, a dog leash, every little thing occupies space. The shelf of the shoe rack is white, the shelves on the wall are also white. This is the area of the relationship and the earth element belongs to it. Earth colors should be used here and fire colors that support the earth element, such as yellow, brown, orange, red, terracotta, and different shades of these colors. Since the wall is white and it is problematic to repaint (I live in a sublet, and the owner said that I can paint the apartment the way I want it, except I have to repaint it to white again when I move), The furniture should be colorful by all means, small surfaces can be white as it symbolizes the purity of the relationship, but in a larger amount it is more of a Platonic love. If bigger, it cuts all the threads and exhausts the possibilities of the relationship to such an extent that members of the opposite sex avoid it from afar.
The circulation of the natural elements in this area, the fire element supports the earth element. In the realm of the relationship itself, the energies of the earth element prevail. So this room would be well designed if I used fire and earth colors here at the entrance and in the hallway. For example: the shoe cabinet would be brown, the shelves in the corner would be red, some pictures could be put on the wall for decoration.
The bed of the dog is here. He really enjoys sleeping in shoes, which is beneficial because all pets belong to the fire element and as such, support the Earth element. The dog is a symbol of loyalty and unconditional love, in the relationship area ensures that the couple stays true to each other.
The floor is green-and-white floor tile in the entire apartment, which is more than an unfortunate choice. The green color belongs to the wood element and the white to the metal, therefore these two are in no way energetically compatible. According to feng shui, metal destroys wood, in which area green would be okay, its positive effect is neutralized by white.
There is no lockable cabinet in the hallway, all coats, sweaters, shoes, bags are on open shelves. We show too much of ourselves to incoming guests, even things we should not.
I tried to use the color scheme of the fire here, still no clue why, I placed these symbols hidden. The red plastic buckets are under the clothes rack (to take advantage of the space underneath as there is little storage space in the kitchen) to store potatoes, onions, and other vegetables that last permanently without refrigeration. I realized later on, that this is how I made sure that the relationship of my daughter is always fueled by something.
A stroller stored in a couple’s area doesn’t convey a good message, though it is a necessary tool to have one, if a baby needs to be taken somewhere. The creativity and children’s area would be the ideal place to store it. In the field of a relationship, it means that one party requires, demands attention like a child from the other...
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
The white color of the front door almost merges with the color of the wall in the hallway, so I definitely need to put some decorations on the door, a knocker, a “Welcome home” sign, a clearly visible aesthetic apartment number, a flashy doormat, something that catches the eye.
3 of us, 3 adults live in the apartment and a baby. My daughter has a relationship, I don't. I tried to look around with the eyes of an outside observer, and I was shocked when I realized that I sabotaged myself to have a relationship. This was not conscious until now, but I am facing the problem and trying to figure out what I can do. First, I have to ensure that the luminaire is not crossed in the hallway and either paint the wall brown, light orange (Pink drives me crazy, even if I am a woman), or I change the furniture, repaint or foil it, plus I will need to hang some pictures on the wall.
I could place up to a thousand pairs of attractive symbols, mandalas, images, anything. As long as the walls are pure white, I block my opportunities.
The above analysis is a sample and only applies to myself and to my own apartment.
Feng Shui areas are elsewhere in each apartment and should be interpreted differently due to different furnishings and the individual’s birth element.
The next area I will analyze is the area of CREATIVITY and CHILDREN. I hope it will be as exciting as this one!
